Maia Receives iSchools Dissertation Award! |

Our own Dr. Maia Jacobs was recently announced as the winner of the 2019 iSchools Doctoral Dissertation Award ! The iSchools Doctoral Dissertation Award recognizes the best iSchool dissertations of the preceding year. Nominations are solicited from all members of the iSchools organization (over 100 institutions worldwide) and judged by an award committee drwan from leading international schools. The Award Committee felt it was timely and important, and lauded its impact in how patients manage their health. Congrats Maia!!
ECL at CSCW 2018 |

The lab will be well represented at CSCW this year! Jessica and Maia are part of the organizing committee for the Conducting Research with Stigmatized Populations workshop (https://sites.google.com/view/stigmaresearchworkshop2018). Maia and Beth will be presenting their paper MyPath: investigating breast cancer patients use of personalized health information on Wednesday. We look forward to seeing everyone in Jersey City this November!!

This semester we have a wonderful group of new students working in the Everyday Computing Lab! Pearl Ruparel, Rach Feinberg, and Aparna Ramesh are Masters students and Cooper Link, Anjana Balamourougan, and Jack Weinkselbaum are Undergraduates. They are working on a range of exciting projects that span from adaptive mobile tablets to optimization of health mobile apps to developing tools to support patients and caregivers. 2018 NSF Smart Heath PI Workshop |

The ECL will be represented at the 2018 NSF Smart Health Workshop by Beth and Jessica. The purpose of this workshop is to to discuss and promote advances in smart health research and to foster partnerships and education for the future of smart health. Beth will be presenting the results from the MyPath tablet which provides adaptive support for breast cancer patients throughout their phases of treatment. Jessica received a Student Travel grant from NSF to attend and present her research at the workshop. The workshop takes place in Arlington, VA on September 24-26th.

ECL will be attending CHI 2018. Jessica will be participating in the 3rd Symposium on Computing in Mental Health , presenting components of her dissertation research focused on interviewing clinicians and patients about how technology impacts the presentation of eating disorders in the clinical context. Maia and Beth will also be in attendance. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Montreal!!
